Agri-tech Cornwall and Software Cornwall are teaming up to host the inaugural Open Hack. The informal evening events, hosted at the Workbox Truro on the 4th and 31st October from 4:30pm, will bring together the counties tech community and sector partners from the chosen problem domain.
Pizza and light refreshments will be available to enjoy.
The theme for October is ‘Agriculture and the Environment’.
At the first event on the 4th October, sector partners will pitch day to day problems which might require a technology solution. Participants can choose which ideas they would like to focus on, with further information being gleaned from the professionals over the evening. Teams are welcome to develop their own ideas under the broad theme.
The second event on the 31st October, will showcase the findings and any solutions thus far developed. Further advice and assistance on how to proceed can be facilitated by the sector partners and industry professionals working with the teams to help continued development, be it through financial support, making connections or suggesting real world test locations.
Between the two events, Software Cornwall and Agri-Tech Cornwall will act as an intermediary for the two groups if required. Venues, communication channels and other support can be provided as needed. There may be the opportunity to apply for funding from Agri-tech Cornwall to continue developing the solution and bring it to market.
Teams are encouraged to showcase their projects at the Open Tech Challenge on November 23rd at Heartlands, Pool.

The theme for the first Open Hack is ‘Agriculture and the Environment’, which complements the upcoming Open Tech Challenge.

Code of Conduct
This event is covered by the Software Cornwall Code of Conduct, which is essentially to treat others as you wish to be treated yourself. Anyone deemed to be breaking it by the events team will be asked to leave and excluded from future Software Cornwall activities. We have a zero tolerance policy when enforcing this code of conduct.
