Virtual Work Experiences (VWEX) are being trialled in west Cornwall during December 2020 and March 2021. These are being organised through Speakers4Schools via the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership.
The 2020 lockdown had all schools cancelling in situe work experience but Software Cornwall took the Mission to Mars online twice during the summer to 30 students. The Mission required some reworking in order to produce a relevant experience for the students but the result produced some amazing participation and work from the pupils.
Software Cornwall have been asked to participate in the trial to three educational establishments with around 1000 students taking part. During the work experiences, being run by various employers, students will either join in from their schools or from home. Should the trials be successful there is the hope that the format can be used in the future to provide additional career knowledge to pupils around Cornwall in industries that would not normally be able to travel to.
If you are interested in taking part in the Virtual Work Experience then follow the link to Speakers4Schools and complete the registration. Initial places will be prioritised to those schools in the trial but spare places will be open to others.
