Tech Jam LATE
Thursday 22 02 2024 @ 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm

No experience necessary / Over 18’s only
Get ready to tech it up at Tech Jam LATE – the ‘grown up’ version of our monthy Tech Jams for kids.
Dive in to a no-pressure zone with a group of likeminded techies and enjoy some refreshments while you jump in to some cool coding projects.
Whether you’re a coding newbie or a tech enthusiast, join the fun activites using Microbit and Raspberry Pi.
Due to popular demand we’re splitting this event into separate ‘early’ and ‘late’ evening sessions. The ‘early evening’ session will run from 1800 – 2000 and the ‘late evening’ session will run between 2000-2200.
Once the introductions and ice-breakers have finished you’ll work through the following activities throughout the session time.
Learn Python with Minecraft
Interact with the world of Minecraft through code. The use of Minecraft provides a rewarding outcome to the learning of a programming language. There is a physical interaction with the blocky world that provides a colourful result to the code working correctly.
Physical computing with the Micro:bit
Use code to write messages and images to the Micro:bit’s LED. Create interaction with buttons, measure temperature, build a compass and much more with this diminutive development board.
Mars Rover obstacle course
Learn how to use the Micro:bit to program a Mission to Mars rover to drive around an obstacle course – either autonomously or with a remote control.
It’s all about learning, laughing, and unleashing your curiosity!
Your ticket fee will go towards funding our crucial educational outreach programmes.
