Tech Jam June 9-11th - Royal Cornwall Show - Tech Cornwall

Junes tech jam will be at Royal Cornwall Show

Find us at the Cornwall College Stand, and Jam for your chance to win a great Raspberry Pi kit prize!  IMG_6402

We will have 10 Pi-Tops with Pi3s and GPIO access. We will use these to run 20-30 min intro to Pis and Physical computing session – making traffic lights on Breadboard, offering Python or Scratch not sure if we offer separate sessions or the team may attempt to do both at once.  We’ll start at 9.30 and run it every hour until 4.30.

We will have a competion to win a Pi3 starter kit with keyboard, mouse, power, etc- the winner just needs to add a monitor.  Anybody that takes part in the intro to Pis can take part, plus we will have 3 robot arms with a challenge to get your entry into the competition box using the arm by remote control.

We need help with people to lead the Intro to Pi Sessions – 2 or 3 people a day. Leading the sessions will mean being mic’ed up and talking the participants through the exercise, plus adding a bit of info about digital careers, tech jams, mission to mars, etc.  I can only do Thurs and Fri AM, so need some volunteers!  Free entry into the show, free coffee all day. Might even stretch to a free t-shirt.

The Cornwall College tent is usually next to the main ring.

Cornwall’s Tech Jams are run by volunteers working in IT and education throughout Cornwall, in association with Software Cornwall, local businesses and Bodmin College.

We aim to run the Jams from 10am to 2pm on the second Saturday of the month, alternating between venues in the Redruth/Pool/Camborne area and the Bodmin area.

The Jams are for anyone who’s interested in computing and technology.  All ages are welcome to attend to, from beginners to experts, to ask any questions or learn about programming and how to interface computers to the physical world.
