SUMMARY:HeadTalk | Kevlin Henney: Agility ≠ Speed
DESCRIPTION:Join us online or in person for our upcoming HeadTalk\, hosted by an author\, presenter\, and software development consultant Kevlin Henney. \n\n\n\n\nVelocity. Sprints. More points\, more speed. \nAn obsession with speed often overtakes the core values of Agile software development. It’s not just development of software; it’s development of working software. Sprints are not about sprinting; they’re about sustainable pace. Time to market is less important than time in market. \nFull-stack development is normally a statement about technology\, but it also applies to individuals and interactions. The full stack touches both the code and the world outside the code\, and with that view comes responsibility and pause for thought. Doing the wrong thing smarter is not smart. The point of a team is its group intelligence not its numbers. Is scaling up the challenge\, or is scaling down the real challenge? \nThe distraction and misuse of speed\, velocity\, point-based systems\, time\, team size\, scale\, etc. is not the accelerant of agile development. Agility lies in experimentation\, responsiveness and team intelligence. \nBook your free space now

SUMMARY:TECwomen presents a conversation on Women and AI
DESCRIPTION:While it has been years in the making\, we finally seem to be in the epicenter of the AI hype storm. You can’t move for articles about how ChatGPT has changed the world and the lasting impact it will have on\, well\, everything. \nSo we felt it was time to sit down and have a nice chat about exactly what AI means for women\, especially in Cornwall. We have an amazing panel of women who are currently working with AI. They will be sharing what they think of the rapid deployment of the technology and its impact on women. From built-in bias to traditionally female jobs at risk and the new opportunties that might be created\, we hope to explore the topic from a different angle and answer some of your burning questions. We expect this to be a thought-provoking conversation that we hope you will all benefit from. \nAfter the panel\, there will be lots of time to discuss\, drink and mingle with other women in the technology\, engineering\, and creative industries. We will also give you a chance to share your thoughts\, ideas\, or concerns about AI – all contributing to an important wider conversation on the topic. \nThis night will give you a chance to get to know other women from across Cornwall who work in the technology\, engineering and creative industires. There will be lots of time to chat and the food from Hall for Cornwall is always amazing. \nAnd no\, ChatGPT did not write this event description. All human…for now… \n\nEvent is 6-10:30\nPanel discussion and Q&A from 7-8pm\nFood and soft drinks are free with a paid bar for drinks\n\nNOTE: While this event is marketed for women\, we welcome all people to our events.
