Job Description
I manage the company’s social media accounts, write technical articles and blog posts, create and send out press releases about new services, enter Bluefruit into relevant awards ceremonies, create whitepapers and branded materials to send to clients, manage the website and email marketing campaigns.
In my job, I use my English writing skills every day, and it also helps to be savvy with social media and marketing platforms like Mailchimp.
What does your company do?
Bluefruit are embedded software specialists, working on large projects with clients such as Schneider Electric and Cosworth!
There are 30+ staff at Bluefruit (mostly developers and test engineers), but I run the Marketing Activities. We have regular social events (previous examples include go-karting, paint-balling etc), and get together during work time for cake and coffee too!”
Career Pathway
I previously did the Marketing for my dad’ software company, Packet Ship, and so my skills were directly transferable when I applied for a job at Bluefruit.
What’s your favorite part of the work you do?
Being able to use my English skills – I love writing!
What piece of advice would you give anyone considering a career in the Software sector?
Read lots! Stay up to date with recent technologies and spend at least an hour a week keeping up with tech or industry specific news, because it’s changing all the time.
If someone was interested in doing the job you do what advice would you give and what resources might you recommend?
If you’re interested in getting into Marketing of Technology writing, I would again recommend reading lots so that you get a fuller understanding about the industry, and the type of detail you’ll be expected to write about.
What’s the best thing about living and working in Cornwall?
Being able to finish work at 5 and be at the beach in 15 minutes!
