The Software the Cornwall network was successfully launched yesterday at Cornwall Business Fair at the Eden Project with a fantanstic display of coding talent from local students at St Mewan Primary School. Enthusiastic young coders from the school joined Code Club Champion Mike Trebilcock to demonstrate the projects they and other young coders from the county have been working on including a voice activated helicopter game and programmed robots from the recent Mission to Mars Easter event.

Local software and digital businesses joined the students to present their vision for the future on how the network plans to support and promote the software community in the county by engaging in an array of activities that will help to support business development and the development of new talent in the future.
Belinda Waldock recently appointed programme manager commented “The young coders really did us proud, everyone was impressed by their coding skills and their presentation and communication skills were brilliant. Engineering has always been at the heart of Cornish culture and its super to be able to showcase the upcoming software engineers of the future. As a network we want to support these students and their teachers as much as possible”
Steve Forth of Bluefruit, founding members and active supporters of Software Cornwall and especially its careers development objective commented “The whole day was brilliant, it was great to see so many of the software community turn out to support us, as well as receive great feedback and support from them and the wider business commuity”
Nora Senior, President of British Chambers mentioned the network in her presentation to the Cornwall Business Fair audience after attending the launch event in the Core building and said the Software Cornwall model is ‘absolutely perfect’. The launch event was made possible with the kind support of the local Cornwall Chamber and Local Enterprise Partnership providing space at the fair to help the network raise awareness in the local business community.
Software Cornwall will soon be recruiting members and welcome all to join them in supporting the development of the software community in the county, it aims to engage with the wider business and educational community as well as software businesses.
Local PR agency MPAD supported the launch as media sponsors and filmed the launch which will be available soon for those who missed the live event. The team would like to thank everyone who supported the event and were overwhelmed by the positive feedback.
