Plymouth University Computing Open Day at Pool Innovation Centre

On the 24th October, the current intake of Plymouth University Computing students will be joining the Software Cornwall community at the Pool Innovation Centre (PIC). Following a morning of visits to businesses from PIC, the Gateway Business Park and the surrounding area we’ll be hosting ‘lightning talks and lunch’.

The students are visiting the area to discover the innovative work happening in the world of technology right here in Cornwall and the amazing support on offer in the region. They’ll be looking to discover what attributes and qualities it takes to become successful in software development and related roles.

The 2017 open day directly resulted in some notable success:

With 57% of students expected to stay in the region following graduation, this is a great chance to meet potential future hires as well as mingle with Software Cornwall members. By highlighting both your company and the awesome tech industry locally we’re hoping to increase this figure over the next few years.

How to get involved

There are three ways you can get involved with the day:

Open your doors to groups of students for a tour
Give a 10-minute lightning talk on one of your amazing projects, company achievements or pathway into your career. We would hope to film and publish these, assuming you are comfortable comfortable with this.

About the course

Computing is the most flexible of the computer science courses offered at Plymouth University. It’s designed to grow technical skills in programming and web development whilst also developing the skill set needed to be an adaptable computing professional.
