This week world leading expert and author Getify from Austin Texas in the USA, travelled to Cornwall to deliver an advanced JavaScript workshop to 22 Cornish Software Engineers.
A great success the 2 day workshop was very well received, the first event delivered through Software Cornwall using their piloted crowd funded model. The event bought together many local web development teams to learn and develop their already experienced JavaScript skills further.
In between the 2 day event, Getify and attendees including Headforwards and Flowmoco two local development companies spent the evening in Newquay on the beach and enjoying local food and mini-golf while talking more about JavaScript and the wider educational objectives of Software Cornwall.
We hope to invite Getify to return in the future to follow up on his visit, and look forward to welcoming other world class experts to the county.
The workshop was faciliatated by Software Cornwall and supported by the businesses attending in making the event happen. Cornwall College provided the facilities for the course with the brilliant Opie Theatre at Camborne in exchange for a place for one of their coding lecturers, providing a double bonus for the software community as this will enable them to pass on the knowlege to young coders studying at Camborne.
