Like Coding and Lego? This may be the opportunity for you!
The STEM Ambassador South West Peninsula Hub are looking for a few STEM Ambassadors (or soon to be STEM Ambassadors) who want to volunteer to support a school to enter the First Lego League (yes this does involve playing with Lego!). We are also looking for any local companies who may be able to sponsor a school £180 so they can enter the competition (ideal situation would be sponsorship and volunteers coming from the same company).
FIRST® LEGO® League is a global science and technology competition for teams of students, to encourage an interest in real world issues and develop key skills that are crucial for their future careers. Teams of 11 – 16 year old students work together to build a programmable Lego Mindstorm Robot and complete a set of tasks. See this clip to find out what it is all about.
We are looking for a small number of STEM Ambassadors who are willing to be trained (in Plymouth) on how to use the Lego Mindstorm and then to support a local school team to compete in the competition (the final competition will be held in Plymouth in 18th January).
