Most inspirational educational IT / digital / multimedia project – Software Cornwall/ Game Changer

Software Cornwall’s Game Changer Project is run by Tony Edwards. It works with young people aged 15-24 who are at risk of becoming NEET (not in education, employment or training) across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
It supports young people to overcome the complex challenges they face; understand their individual aptitudes, passions and interests; develop skills and experiences, build connectivity and networks, resulting in many successfully now exploring and establishing career pathways into software engineering and Cornwall’s tech community.
The programme is delivered by working with businesses, matching their needs and aspirations with the passions and skills of young people. From experiencing potential careers via sector based work placements to challenge based learning sessions young people grow and express themselves openly and explore opportunities.
Unfortunately Mr Edwards was unavailable to pick up his award on the night, but Jordan Barkway, a software apprentice with Bluefruit who benefited from Software Cornwalls educational programmes and is now a lead mentor, picked it up on his behalf.
She said: “It’s people like Tony who will tell young people ‘you know what you want to be, so let’s give you a hand up’. Tony is amazing and inspires other people to achieve greatness.”
